As a Certified Financial Planner Practitioner ® and lead advisor at Planned Financial Services, LLC, Tim Martin, understands that planning for the future isn’t always the easiest task. But through faith, optimism and the ability to see opportunity in any challenge, he’s helped his clients navigate through the noise of confusing financial opinions to achieve financial security and the goals they desire—clearly and comprehensively.
A former college athlete turned financial services professional, Tim helps coach his clients toward successfully reaching goals they’ve planned together—whether it’s a comfortable retirement, a child's college education or a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. An entrepreneur at heart, Tim opened his own practice after college and helped local educators before merging with Planned Financial Services, LLC in 2008.
Paired with a psychology degree from Hillsdale College, Tim’s work as a financial planner goes beyond providing clients with one-time advice. Through his holistic, people-first approach to financial planning, Tim believes in building dynamic, long-term partnerships with clients and their families for years to come.
Tim also holds a Chartered Special Needs Consultant designation and is well-versed in estate and tax planning concepts, special needs trusts, government programs and financial planning for small businesses.
After moving to Clarkston in 2006 to build a life for his wife and two children, Tim’s people-first philosophy has made him a trusted and well-known fixture in his community and a valuable advocate for small business owners after serving as the 2017 President of the Clarkston Area of Chamber of Commerce and board member from 2010 until 2018.
He currently serves on the board of Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW), in addition to being a team sponsor for Independence Township Buddy Basketball and supporter of Clarkston SCAMP, a summer camp for children with special needs.
A lifelong athlete, Tim keeps active through competitive cycling, triathlons, playing basketball and golfing. When he’s not training for a race, he enjoys live music, going camping, boating, hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors with his family.
